British Farmer Personally Tests: Chinese-made Transformers Conquer Muddy Manor

Apr 24, 2025

In the continuous rainy season in Yorkshire, on a century-old farm, James Wilson is using a CATHAYLIFT crawler lift to prune oak branches. This orange device from China turns nimbly in the mud, forming a dramatic contrast with the traditional scissor lift stuck in the mud next to it. "It's like a thinking Transformer!" exclaimed the British user who has been farming for 30 years.

Wilson's 300-acre manor is full of steep slopes and muddy trails. Traditional equipment needs to be towed by a tractor and will not work in rainy days. After purchasing the all-terrain lift, he pioneered a new use of the "mobile workstation": repairing tiles on the roof of the barn in the early morning, and moving to the pastoral area to repair fences in the afternoon, with independent control throughout the process. "We can start work as soon as the rainstorm stops. The crawler is as stable as a tank when rolling over the puddle, and the intelligent hydraulic system will automatically increase the power output."

What surprised him most was the environmental perception ability of the equipment. When working on a grass slope with a 25-degree inclination, the system warned of the center of gravity shift in advance and adjusted the counterweight autonomously. "It's like having an invisible safety officer, which is very important on a shaking platform." Wilson deliberately demonstrated the equipment's original "mud mode" - the crawler instantly unfolds a larger ground contact area, and with the splash-proof baffle, it not only ensures stability but also avoids damaging the lawn.

This equipment has even changed the rhythm of farm maintenance. In the past, tree pruning operations that required the cooperation of three people were now completed by him alone: after rising to an altitude of 8 meters, the platform extension function was used to build a temporary working surface, and the robotic arm fixed the branches and trunks while cutting. "Chinese engineers have brought the control console of science fiction movies into reality." He plans to use the equipment for river dredging and recommend it to friends who are engaged in castle restoration.

As the sun sets, Wilson touches the screen to start the automatic return, and the elevator accurately returns to the charging pile along the muddy ruts. This futuristic picture is being played out in rural scenes around the world.
